Farmers have been saved with the backbreaking chore of slinging hay bales during the 1960s, when Iowa State agricultural engineering professor Wesley Buchele and a gaggle of pupil researchers invented a baler that created massive, spherical bales that would be moved by tractor. The baler has become the predominant forage-handling equipment in the U
